As both active members
of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and
our respective traditional professions, we believe Yoga Therapy
in the USA is in a very early phase of development. Matt's experience
as past president of the board of directors of IAYT (2008-2009)
places him in a unique perspective of the strengths and weakness
of the current models.
We
believe Yoga therapy represents a paradox of both the ancient
traditional practices and a vessel for the latest findings in
integrative science. In order to flourish a balance must be found
for holding both the classical essence and being culturally relevant.
To perpuate the "California" yoga teaching model of
the late 20th century will hamper such development. A new level
of training and presentation is necessary to transform our communities
per Sri Aurobindo's evolution of consciousness. One expression
of that emerging process is www.matthewjtaylor.com
We
at the Center for Yoga Therapeutics are prototyping this new
delivery model. Learn more here about how we are doing this and how it can serve
you.
